Pola-Pola Misterius di Pasir

Mysterious Ridges
Martyn Gorman has found these weird and wonderful formations near his home along Scotland’s east coast on two occasions. What is at work in this magical intersection of sand and physics, no one, it seems, knows.(Martyn Gorman telah menemukan formasi yang aneh dan indah tersebut di dekat rumahnya di sepanjang pantai timur Skotlandia.)

Smooth Ripples
Responding to wind, sand can taken on an infinite variety of shapes.(Karena pergerakkan angin, pasir dapat menjadi berbagai macam bentuk yang tak terbatas.)

Mountains of Sand
Sand’s strange properties allow it to mimic large-scale geological formations, such as mountain ridges and canyons.(Sifat aneh pasir yang memungkinkan untuk meniru skala besar formasi geologi, seperti gunung dan lembah pegunungan.)

Glossy Waves
Worn smooth by wind, sand in large dunes can form into oscillating waves.(Kesan gloosy pada pasir yang dibentuk oleh angin, pasir di bukit pasir yang besar dapat membentuk menjadi gelombang berosilasi.)

Wet Wiggles
Sand has the peculiar ability to behave like a solid, liquid or gas. Here, patterns in the sand look like flowing liquid.(Pasir memiliki kemampuan aneh untuk berperilaku seperti benda cair, benda padat atau gas. Di sini, pola dalam pasir terlihat seperti cairan yang mengalir.)

Beach Fractals
Branching patterns, mimicking tree-tops or roots, are one of many examples of fractals seen in nature.(Pola percabangan, meniru ujung pohon atau akar, adalah salah satu dari banyak contoh fraktal yang terlihat di alam.)

Two-Tone Ripples
These light and dark ripples at the beach are caused by darker, heavier grains settling together, often at crests. Lighter, finer grains are easily whisked around and tend to settle at the bottom. Taken at Stone Harbor, New Jersey. )

Shells and Stones
One day these shells and rocks will be sand. (Suatu hari, kerang dan batu-batu ini akan menjadi pasir.)
